Google Rankings and Reality

Is it really possible? How do you do it? What does it take and is that enough? I hear these questions all the time from friends, colleagues and clients. It seems impossible for some people to achieve top rankings on Google Search Result Pages. Most of the time, the reaction is, “Did you do that?” once they see the results I produce. So on this post, I’d like to answer these questions once and for all.

Is it possible?

Yes! It’s possible. I have been doing online marketing for almost 10 years now and although the methods have changed significantly, the process remains the same. As long as one builds a site for the user, it will achieve great results. Websites that are created without targeting a group of users or an audience do not succeed. That was one of the major reasons of the dotcom disaster in 2000. Again, quality wins while quantity loses.

How do you do it?

I think the most important factors are content and dedication. Content is king and this is not the first time you’ve heard it. If you go back on our posts and read our articles on the website, you will see this term many times. Content is king, however it’s not easy. It’s pretty tough to come up with original, unique and fresh content consistently. That’s why dedication is also critical. It’s essential that our clients get a very good understanding of what’s necessary to achieve great results on Google and other major search engines. We enforce that rule; as a matter of fact we have dropped many clients who have not complied with our rules for content … yes, we’ve actually fired clients who cannot or will not make the necessary commitments, particularly in the key area of content.

What does it take?

One word … patience. In most cases, it is not years of patience. We give a time frame of 6 months to a year. We have seen unbelievable results within 3 months of signing a client. However, if you just had your website created and want to rank top 10 for “Mortgage”, it will take a lot of content, dedication and patience. Does that make sense?

Is that enough?

It should make sense. It also makes sense not to put all your eggs in one basket. At the end of the day, Google rankings are something we have no control over. We do not take chances, so we always offer our clients alternate online marketing strategies such as Pay per Click Advertising and Affiliate Marketing. We focus on conversions and ROI. We advise our clients to build strong relationships with their clients and we certainly strive to do the same with our clients.
